Fiber-Optic Raman spectroscopy is an emerging technology with strong potential for real-time, in vivo tissue analysis. Applications range from direct tissue characterization and diagnostic support to endoscopic biopsy guidance and surgical guidance in open, laparoscopic, and robotic procedures. Despite this promise, widespread adoption has long been limited by the lack of suitable fiber-optic probes.
For more than two decades, the field has faced persistent challenges: available probes are often complex, costly, difficult to manufacture with consistent performance, and hard to access. These technical and practical barriers have significantly slowed development and clinical translation of Fiber-Optic Raman spectroscopy.

The goal of the Fiber-Optic Raman platform is to remove the technical, manufacturing, and data-processing hurdles that have historically stood in the way of real-world applications. By focusing on accessibility, reproducibility, and ease of integration, RiverD aims to accelerate innovation and enable broader adoption of Fiber-Optic Raman spectroscopy in clinical research and beyond.
